Chester J. Luckenbill, 79, of Jefferson Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of Jean A. (Moll) Luckenbill. They were married on October 3, 1959, and celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Marion Township, he was the son of the late Paul A. Luckenbill and Elsie M. (Miller) Luckenbill.
He attended Penn Bernville School and served as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
In addition to working on a farm in his early years, Chester was employed by the Reading Coca-Cola Bottling Works for 31 years.
He was a member of St. Thomas Church in Bernville
He also was a member of the Northkill Rod and Gun Club.
Chester will be remembered as a devoted, loving, and caring husband, father, and grandfather. In his retirement, his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed working in his flower gardens, watching nature, and making puzzles.
In addition to his wife, Chester is survived by two loving sons, Jeffrey D. Luckenbill; and Brian P. Luckenbill, husband of Nancy L. (Good) Luckenbill; one daughter, Kathy J. Luckenbill, all of Jefferson Township; two granddaughters, Kirstin L. (Luckenbill) Rabenold, wife of Adam B. Rabenold, of Mohrsville; and Courtney S. Luckenbill, of Jefferson Township.
Other survivors include one sister, Lorraine I. Hix, and one brother Robert D. Luckenbill, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by six siblings: Arline, Pauline, Arthur, Helen, Marian, and James.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 26th at 11 am in St. Thomas Church, 536 North Main St., Bernville.
Viewings will be held on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville and Monday in St. Thomas Church from 10 am until 11 am.
Interment will follow the service on Monday in St. Thomas Cemetery in Bernville.
