Carl Allen Trievel, of Leesport, passed away at age of 77 at the Penn State Health St. Joesph Medical Center on Wednesday, October 17th after a long battle with cancer. His beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara (Bowen), was at his side.
Born October 12, 1941 in Alsace Twp., he was the son of the late Howard F. and Eva M. (Schemel) Trievel.
Carl worked for over 50 years at Gaspari Farms, retiring in 2014.
His true passion was his 22 years of service as a volunteer Fire Fighter for Temple Fire Co. He served as Assistant Chief from September 1978 until June 1980 when he was promoted to Fire Chief. He would serve as Chief until 1988.
A man dedicated to service, Carl volunteered as a driver for the Vision Resource Center until his health prohibited him.
Surviving are Carl’s children: Scott A. Trievel, husband of Laurie, of Mohrsville; Joylyn M. Reimert, wife of Patrick, of Fleetwood; and Todd A. Trievel, of San Antonio, Texas.
There are two grandchildren: Alec B. Trievel of Pittsburgh; Carissa L. Trievel, student at University of Pittsburgh.
Surviving also are two sisters: Amanda, widow of John O. Spinka of Temple and Betty Nye of Cumru Twp.
Carl also has many wonderful nieces and nephews who will remember their uncle.
Carl is predeceased by his siblings: Elwood Trievel; Paul Trievel; Wayne Trievel; John Trievel; Robert Trievel; Charles Fick; Harold Fick; Samuel Fick; Dorothy (Trievel) Boyer; Katie (Trievel) Etchberger; Mary (Trievel) Smith; and Dorothy (Fick) Manwiller.
Friends and family are invited to join Barbara and her family for a viewing on Friday evening, October 26th from 7 pm until 9 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 10 am in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA with Reverend Lesley Hand officiating. A viewing will be held Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service.
Following the funeral service on Saturday, a Fireman’s procession will depart the funeral home and proceed to Berks County Memorial Gardens in Maidencreek Twp., where interment will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carl Allen Trievel to the Temple Fire Co. truck crew, 4963 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560 and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
