Barry C. Himmelberger

Barry C. Himmelberger, 84, of Penn Twp.,  joined his loving wife Betty in heaven on Wednesday morning.

Barry was married on June 28, 1958 to the late  Betty J. (Koenig) Himmelberger, they would have been married for sixty four loving years this June.

Born in Bernville, he was the son of the late Curtis and Arlene (Miller) Himmelberger.

Barry was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Thomas Church in Bernville where he was a former deacon.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard.

He was formerly employed at Olde 22 Inn, was the owner and operator of Himmelberger’s Sandwich Shop in Wernersville, and later employed for B. & G. Glass.

He was a graduate of the Penn-Bernville High School, was a former soccer coach for BARA, a member of the board for Western Berks Swimming Pool, and a member of Williamson Lodge No. 307 Womelsdorf.

Barry loved and was very proud of all his family, they lit up his life.

Surviving are two loving children, Dave B. Himmelberger, husband of Penny A. Himmelberger and Jayme L. Burkey, wife of Richard A. Burkey both of Penn Twp.

There are four loving grandchildren, Angela J. Himmelberger and partner John Demko, Alli M. Himmelberger, Rachele N. Loucks, wife of Air Force Lieutenant Colonial Ryan Loucks, and Jared R. Burkey and wife Jacquelynn Burkey.

There are seven loving great grandchildren, Sage and Vaughn Guthier, Ava, Charlotte, and Canaan Loucks, and Brody and Braxton Burkey.

He is also predeceased by two siblings, Rowena and Sherwood Himmelberger.

Barry was predeceased by a daughter Lori Jean Himmelberger.

A viewing for Barry will be held on Wednesday, June 29th in St. Thomas Church 536 N. Main St., Bernville from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.

A funeral service will take place in the church at 11:00 am with Reverend Stephen Hollinger officiating.

Interment will follow in Haags Cemetery in Bernville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project at warriorproject.org.

The Kirkhoff Funeral Home in Bernville is entrusted with Barry’s funeral arrangements.
