Annette M. (Kiesling) Marth, daughter of the late James H. and Mabel S. (Bowman) Kiesling, passed away on December 21st at St. Joseph Medical Center, Penn State Health. She was the widow of Olin R. Marth, who died December 16th, 2016.
Before moving to the Masonic Villages at Elizabethtown, she resided in Muhlenberg Township and attended Muhlenberg High School. There she was active in the band, orchestra, mixed chorus and was known for playing the marimba as a featured soloist for many groups.
She continued her education at Albright College. After graduation, she studied at La Universidad Nacional De Mexico, as well as a study abroad program. Upon returning home, she accepted a teaching position in the language department at Muhlenberg High School. There she met her future husband and they celebrated 56-1/2 years of marriage together.
In 1972, she was diagnosed with M.S. and with the patient, loving care of her husband, she was able to overcome the challenges she faced.
They loved to travel and toured the U.S., Canada and Mexico with their son, visiting all of the major national parks. Later, they made numerous trips to Europe and the United Kingdom. When this style of travel became too difficult, they started taking cruises. The last few years they could travel abroad, they wanted to make memories, and traveled with their family through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Ireland. She had a love of history and different cultures which she was fortunate to share with her husband and family.
Her other passion was reading and could usually be found with a book in hand. As a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School, sang in the adult choir and participated in the bell choir.
She leaves behind her son, Olin R. Marth II, and wife Susan (Young) Marth, along with her beloved granddaughter Alexandra, with whom she spent many precious hours.
She lived a full and rewarding life!
