Anna F. Hoffert, 79, of Bernville, PA passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill East. Born October 10, 1937 in Newmanstown, PA, Anna was a daughter of the late Forrest George, Sr. and Gertrude (Meyer) Wagner. Anna was a retired nurses aid from Berks Heim where she had many years of service. After retirement, she helped her good friend, Betty Luckenbill with her handmade sewing crafts, especially at this time of the year when they would be displayed at the Kutztown Folk Festival. Besides her unconditional love of her family, Anna had a deep love of music. She always looked forward to attending in church service and singing, attending gospel music concerts or watching bluegrass and gospel concerts on television, especially her favorite band The Gathers. She also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies games, playing bingo, play cards (especially pinochle when her partner countered properly) visiting friends and family, crocheting blankets and dishrags along with many more activities fondly recounted by her family. Anna is survived by two daughters, Sharon A. Rutherford, and her husband Mark of Reading, PA and Donna D. Houck and her husband Carl of Bernville with whom Anna resided. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Christopher L. Raifsnider and his wife Keely of Manheim, Vicki Lynn Raifsnider of Robesonia and Eric Houck and his wife Amanda of Pottsville; six great grandchildren, Xavier Raifsnider, Elizabeth Raifsnider, Dakoda Thomas, Gabriel Thomas, Noah Raifsnider and Carter Houck; and three siblings, Carrie Mae Moyer, Marie Catherine Franks and Forrest George Jr. Anna is predeceased by four siblings, Roy John, Cora Grace Moyer, Dora Naomi Marks and Eleanor Ruth Miller. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Thomas Church, 536 N. Main Street, Bernville, PA 19506, officiated by Reverend Dr. Daniel D. Lute. Anna's family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. also in the church. Kirkhoff Funeral Home is honored to make these arrangements.
