Alton F. Gilbert, Jr. 85 of Laureldale died Tuesday morning at 4:40 A.M. in the Manor Care Laureldale where he had been a guest sine August 28th. He was the husband of Carol A. (Epler) Gilbert. They had shared fifty-eight years of marriage.
Alton was born in Reading on October 29, 1927. He was the son of the late Alton F. Sr. and Catherine (Fies) Gilbert.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children; Diane M. wife of Keith A. Gilmer of Blandon and Mark A. husband of Maria L. Gilbert of Stony Creek.
Six grandchildren; Shawn A. husband of Gael Kline of Fleetwood, Nadine wife of Anthony Angelisanti of Boyertown, Jesse H. and Jordan W. Gilmer of Blandon, and Drew A. and Ryan M. Gilbert of Stony Creek.
Four great-grandchildren; Abigail and Cale Angelisanti of Boyertown and Logan and Cyrus Kline of Fleetwood.
A sister, Nancy wife of Jeffrey Cox of Reading.
Two Brothers, John Gilbert and Roy husband of Betty Gilbert both of Reading.
Alton was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.
Mr. Gilbert served his country during World War II in both the United States Navy and the United States Army.
Alton was employed twenty-seven years in the maintenance department of the former Firestone Tire of Pottstown. He also had been employed as a truck driver for Industrial Metal Plating of Reading.
Services are private and the family is being served by the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. Temple.
